Ampicillin sodium is a broad spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin. This product has strong antibacterial effect on hemolytic streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and staphylococcus penicillinase, which is similar to or slightly inferior to penicillin. Ampicillin also has good antibacterial action against Streptococcus viridis, and its action against Enterococcus and Listeria is better than that of penicillin. This product has antibacterial activity against Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis, actinomyces, Haemophilus influenzae, Bordetella pertussis, Neisseria and other anaerobic bacteria except Bacteroides fragile. Some Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella and shigella bacteria are sensitive to this product. Ampicillin acts as a bactericidal agent by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls.
Usage :
Adults: intramuscular injection 2~4g per day, divided into 4 doses; The intravenous infusion or injection dose is 4 to 8g a day, divided into 2 to 4 times. In patients with severe infection, the daily dose can be increased to 12g, and the maximum daily dose is 14g. Children: intramuscular injection 50~100mg/kg per day, divided into 4 doses; Intravenous infusion or injection is given 2 to 4 times daily according to body weight of 100 to 200mg/kg. The maximum daily dose is 300 mg/kg per body weight. Full-term newborns: 12.5-5 mg/kg once per body weight, once every 12 hours on the first and second day of birth, once every 8 hours on the third day to two weeks, and once every 6 hours thereafter. Preterm infants: 12.5 to 50mg/kg per time according to body weight, once every 12 hours, 8 hours and 6 hours in the first week of birth, 1 to 4 weeks and more than 4 weeks, respectively. Patients with renal insufficiency: when the endogenous creatinine clearance is 10 to 50ml/ min or less than 10ml/ min, the administration interval should be extended to 6 to 12 hours and 12 to 24 hours, respectively. The higher the concentration of ampicillin sodium solution, the worse the stability. At 5ºC, 1% ampicillin sodium solution can maintain its biotiter for 7 days, but 5% solution can maintain its biotiter for 24 hours. Ampicillin sodium intravenous infusion with a concentration of 30mg/ml can maintain at least 90% of its titer at room temperature for 2 to 8 hours, and can maintain 90% of its titer up to 72 hours when placed in the refrigerator. Stability can be reduced by the presence of glucose, fructose and lactic acid, and also decreases with increasing temperature. For intramuscular injection, 125mg, 500mg and 1g ampicillin sodium can be dissolved in 0.9 ~ 1.2ml, 1.2 ~ 1.8ml and 2.4 ~ 7.4ml sterilized water for injection, respectively. The concentration of ampicillin sodium infusion solution should not exceed 30mg/ml.
